My understanding is that the actual impeachment trial wouldn't happen immediately - they are talking about doing it later (like 100 days into the Biden admin). At that point, any evidence would totally be moot. And, IMHO, the actual trial won't happen if it comes to that. Why would they even bother? This is mostly for optics for their rabid base.
He's talking about if they move to impeach for what he said in his speech (inciting violence), he will get to defend his claims
