The people behind Twitter etc. are true believers. They truly believe Trump is evil and putting themselves in power is good and right for freedom and democracy. Hence, they stay their hand on his children because that still fits their own perception of being fair minded.

So while you are correct that leftists do not really abhor "evil" in the classical sense of the word, they are happy to misuse that word to mean whatever they want it to mean.
This ambiguity of meaning also gives them cover to do the things classically defined as evil, while pointing at the new meaning as distraction.
