Important to note, that unlike many other '___ state bar associations", the "New York State Bar Association" isn't actually the "Bar" in NY. They don't have any role in regulating attorneys. It's basically a voluntary club you can join or not.

The real "Bar" in NY is actually run by the Courts, and only they can decide to suspend a member from the practice of law.

Correct. Bar Associations are clubs, not the governing body of licensed attorneys.
