Just yesterday I was told by some cowardly fuck, here on TD.W, that George Washington was an aristocrat and, therefore can’t be compared with patriots today.

Tons of garbage out there trying to smear our Founding Fathers and our history. Fortunately, at least for now, we still have the means to keep the truth available.

To be honest, the guy did have a horrible history of getting his men slaughtered and sucked at military leadership. Much like liberals when they hit their 30s, GW came into his own and stopped being a selfish prick when the Revolution started. As a political leader he worked out great.

Hey, there's a reason they say those that forget history are doomed to repeat it. Need to remember the bad with the good so you also know what to avoid in the future. Not trying to outright negative, just nakedly truthful.

If it's truth you seek then you should go study his military career more closely and not focus on the setbacks that the Left loves to promote. He saved countless lives on the frontier as he dealt with the constant indian threat. You can pick any great military figure in history and find instances where they weren't flawless.

But that's sort of the thing—Washington met nothing but defeat or heavy losses (esp. in Canadian campaigns and holding forts) and shifted the blame onto others until the Revolutionary War. He was taken into a higher tactical role then and thrived, quickly getting better at it until he became a decent commander.

He excelled at morale building too. Washington indeed was a great leader when he hit his prime, but his path there with emphasis on his younger career was not so good. I take from that the idea that failure is not a reason to quit, because even legends had to learn how to walk at some point. I also take from it that popular opinion is not a good reason to hire someone because performance matters.

You've got me interested in looking back at Washington's military career again. Cheers for that.
