President Trump has been handed the justifications for the suspension of Habeas soooooooo many times in 2020 and 2021.

Coordinated, nationwide attacks on federal personnel, property, and critical infrastructure. Social media- the publicly traded guys- were involved in coordinating, glorifying, and funding the attacks. Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Inc. is a literal non-profit w/ federal tax exemptions that sent donations to Act Blue.

In places like Portland, OR, people were moving across state borders, using federal roads. In Seattle, JBLM (which houses some of the nation's special forces) was threatened. Etc. Etc.

All this in the middle of a stated pandemic. The whole idea has been that the China virus is dangerous to public health. So, when these attacks brazenly defied federal guidelines and mandates to protect public health and safety...

Even the events of January 6th could be a prime justification.

If Trump doesn't invoke martial law- not just the IA, but full-on suspension of Habeas Corpus- the union is probably doomed. And the fall could occur much faster and more dramatically than what was seen in Venezuela. Parler went down in a day, effectively. (Though I highly doubt that level of collusion occurred spontaneously- you don't just ban an entire site in what a third-grader could tell you is textbook anti-trust violations over a few conference calls).

Having 24 states pretty firmly in GOP hands won't help. RINOs, etc. Having key battleground state legislatures in GOP hands help- Republicans had PA, GA, et seq in 2020. Fraud in one city or county can obviate all that. A supposedly conservative Supreme Court- especially one headed by Roberts- won't help. Dozens of Trump-appointed judges on various federal benches won't help.

And, truth be told, 78 million patriots with guns and jobs and farms won't help, either. It's definitely a good thing, and could be a very effective deterrent, but, like military matters, you have to make the threat credible.

You COULD build a very solid foundation just on Texas alone. With roughly half the country ready to stand with Texas, even better. And, the truth is, the left coast would be physically separated from the east, with very robust insurgencies in nocal, eastern OR/WA, etc.

All that said, harnessing that anger and turning it into an effective, modern fighting force capable of launching MOUT in cities with skyscrapers, all while managing complex logistical and economic means...

Parler got shut down in a day.

You want secession, you need not just an entirely new internet and communications infrastructure, but also an entirely new economy, judicial system, political system...

And Texas alone would have to fight insurgencies in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso... all while being blockaded and having the insurgents reinforced by the cartels. Not an easy proposition. Yes, the Texas boys would win in a fair fight. But there's nothing about fighting that is fair. Something Democrats understand far better than Republicans.

Best case is we slow the inevitable.

At this point, Dems can torch a courthouse, then get bailed out with tax-exempt before the night is out.

That's not something you just vote away.
