Dan Bongino was one of the biggest streamers on YouTube. Even YouTube was scared of demonetizing Dan Bongino because he had one of the largest amount subscribers on their platform.
Dan Bongino saw the Censorship coming from miles away. So he decided to make his own platform. And he took a lot of followers with him

until a few days ago Parler seemed to work better (for me) and had an easier sign-up process (could use a fake phone number).
I got Gab in 2016 and it took forever to get "invited" to sign up. It was (back then) clunky to the point of being unusable. Now it's unusable again because everyone is trying to sign up at once.
Edit: Lin Wood and Sidney Powell were on parler, which gave me a reason to go there.
Codemonkey was on Gab, but has only posted about 3 times.
Twiter has been "read only" for me since 2016. Just went there to see what President Trump had to say.
I don't really know your answer, but I do know that Gab was smeared as being the only platform for white supremacists, neo-nazis, and the KKK. I guess people didn't want to be dragged into being smeared by the media for using it?
It wasn't pulled from.the app stores until now.
It was on the app store
Gab lets you say anything, so some people said anti Jewish stuff, which got the site labeled as a place for Nazis to hang out.
