Incorrect. Just because it hasn't been attempted is irrelevant. It would effectively remove presidential protections like Secret Service detail.

It literally isn't. Impeachment could be used to remove post-presidential protections (like Civil Service detail) from a former president. It hasn't been tried before because there hasn't been a perceived need to do so, nor the support.
