Pede kinda bothered me too at first; then I started thinking “foot” soldiers then an old timer told me about the centipede connection. Still not a centipede fan but I like the crowd. So we got a frog and a centipede for mascots fighting to save our Republic.
It's also a reference to how there are 99 more of us for every 1 that posts here.
