What would be new and refreshing would be a well-written black character based on black history. Of course, you’ve only got perhaps a century or two of stuff to work from. (You know, since White people started to write down black history, because, you know, we alphabetted.)
Come to think of it, the most interesting black characters, countries, and places have all been fictional. Sorry if you think Wakanda was real. As for Egypt, I already mentioned ‘bring back the redheads.’
