I was with my husband at the supermarket (in Shitladephia) and I noticed a guy staring at us, but I brushed off, we walk to another ally and I ask my husband to go and get me something from another ally. The dude that was staring approached me (I instinctively put my hands inside my jacket; pepper spray) and asked me why was I with a "White man"? And he starts telling me why "Black women" shouldn't date outside their race, because racism and white supremacy. I replied at him; I'm not Black and my husband is not White, WE are Hispanics/Latinos and we are both Mulattoes/mix. And even if I want to date a White/Caucasian man that's none of his business.
He looked at me offended and tried to engage in argument (I was so anxious, I was going to pepper spray his ass) when my husband came back and asked me in Spanish what was going on and I replied in Spanish as well. My husband started heating up and asked the guy to BTFO and the dude was like: my bad, I apologize. 😑😒 This people are overdoing it.
You'll be surprised how many Hispanics are MAGA. We are traditionalists; religion and family oriented.
I'm not surprised at all. My wife has her home office in the room next to mine. I heard her on the phone one day speaking with someone she works with and she had it on speaker. I could tell she was speaking to a Hispanic woman. The woman on the other end was was telling my wife how scared she was. This was right before the election. So I went into her office to hear what was going on and my wife said "Maria, tell my husband what you just said." Maria said "Oh my God...I'm so scared President Trump is going to lose. I live in Florida amongst many other Hispanics and our whole neighborhood is pro-Trump, but I'm just afraid. I don't want the US to turn into what we all tried to escape." I said Praise God.
That sounds about right. I also migrated here 6 years ago. At first (when didn't know the language well) I was not feeling Trump, but after my boyfriend (now husband) started to show me what policies Trump was running on, I was like Heck, Yeah!. My family ran from a messed up country full of refugees (thanks to UN) that could not adapt to our culture and were against Dominicans, because "We stole their land" (they lost the Haitian/Dominican war).
I don't feel like this is over, yet.
