See, this worries me, because then it's too easy for non-patriots to wear a flag as a disguise. Every member of Congress wears one of those flag pins. It needs to be like a tattoo or something. But on the back of the hand, so we can see it.

What's a concept that patriots would know well, and could answer without hesitation, that others would not? It's not a password per se, because you can ask multiple different ways, and get different responses IN EVERYDAY CONVERSATION that would not be suspect even if the person you're talking to isn't a patriot.
Ideas related to the constitution come to mind, but you can't really insert it into small talk with a stranger.
My uncle used to be a churchgoer. He stopped a little while ago but one of the things that stayed was that he has a habit of saying, "Testify" when he agrees with you. Like - the way I'll say, "Yeah. I hear you," he says "Testify". Which I always liked.
In terms of the constitution, maybe the thing that could be brought into conversation is like, the 28th Amendment. Which hasn't been written. But maybe folks can ask each other, if there WAS to be one, what should it be? It's a conversation starter. But also, it's like us. The Trump Era is a new thing in our country's history. It too hadn't been written until Trump did it. I dunno. I'm just brainstorming here.

What's required of a good shibboleth is that it doesn't take thought to answer, and in this case it also can't be taught because it's something you were raised with - common to all Americans of all ages. That's a tough one. . The fact that we're a republic is one - not a direct democracy, thank heavens. What's the point of a republic? To ensure that all voices are heard - even minority groups. It's such a basic concept that even those who didn't take civics, if patriots, will know.

I recommend to EVERYONE right now: Keep your political leanings and thoughts to very close circles. Do not fly banners, upside down flags, lawn signs, hats, bumper stickers, etc. We all have bad actors in our neighborhood. We don't know which way all of this is going and you do not want to make yourself a target unnecessarily. If this turns towards the darker side of history, it can happen fast. In fact, take notes on your neighbors who have BLM, communist, antipolice, or "In my America", "We believe in science" type signs. These people are most susceptible to influence and most likely to turn people in if it comes to that. Also beware people who are overly emotional about masks and Covid, as they are letting their emotions affect their judgement. Be a grey man, now more than ever.

There's no pressure to hide in underground communities (thus as observed by BAP have lost freedom becoming diminished as result of becoming normal). Those communities developed elaborate coding methods to blend in and spot one another. Michael Malice pointed out there's lessons to learned from their experience.
Become a protected class. Carve out the underground places while the circular firing squad turns bloodthirsty on survivor island with one another. Mop up when they're done.

Am I the only one still wearing my MAGA gear? It’s going to have to fall off my body before I stop.
I already do (usually a hat or something - some are more subtle, like a 4th of July Yankees' hat where the flag is in the logo. Another is a shirt where the stripes in the flag are vertical and meant to look like bars in a jail cell, with two hands gripping them, to infer we're imprisoned. I used to wear it a lot before '16. Last time I wore it was election day in '16 but that may have to get pulled out again for regular use), and if I'm not wearing an American flag, than I'm usually wearing some kind of "banned' hat, like a Redskins or Cleveland Indians/Chief Wahoo hat (which I think is another good indicator). I also go to a school who's name was considered offensive (indians) so we now have no real name or mascot. I bought a generic letterman jacket, and found 2 old patches from back in the day that are "super offensive" to put on them and wear around the town/campus (I'll eventually get expelled but w/e, I'm done w/ classes but not currently enrolled because gatekeepers are blocking my thesis research anyway and I won't bend the knee).

Just from experience I dont need anything to know someone is a patriot. Their actions make them stick out like a sore thumb. Same goes for communists as well too though
