exactly. expect a flood a headlines like this and worse. the head fakes are designed to get under our skin, to react, retreat. it is an information/cyber war.
As I understand it, the constitution has two interpretations of his role as the president of the senate. The first interpretation is a literal definition of the role only counting the electors. The second interpretation is a bit more liberal but still constitutional. the second interpretation afford him the ability in cases where a state has sent competing elcotors (which the swing states did) to throw it back to the legislatures to confirm which electors should be counted. Basically ensuring the electors were given constitutionally which we know they weren’t because they broke their own laws in the election process. So it would have given the swing states a chance for the legislatures to correct this so he could count the official and correct electors.
Pence chose the first option and one of the main reasons people feel betrayed is because if the roles were revereses and it was a Democrat in his position, they would have taken the more liberal approach. Trump has been trying to get his people to understand that we need to play the game with the same rules the dems do and pence declined. It’s a huge slap in the face even though technically pence acted according to the constitution. He still could have done the right thing by ensuring the electors were legally sent and in not doing, he showed he does t have the same backbone that trump has and disappointed millions of people.
But you asked why people are mad at Pence. Maybe states did they right thing and maybe they didn’t. I think you under estimate how long it takes to get an entire body to see that the biggest fraud of all time has taken place and to do something about it even though it means persecution as we saw. It takes two months to warm up to something like that so give them a break. But we will never know because Pence didn’t give them the option. Pence was supposed to be trumps right hand man and had the same fighting spirit and he didn’t. Especially after announcing a few days prior that “we will have our day in congress”. He gave false hope and that’s why people are angry.
You are confusing people’s anger with pence and the anger at the outcome of his decision. You asked what Pence did wrong and I’m telling you that,
He gave millions of trump voters false hope when he announced that “we will have our day in congress” leading people to believe he would in fact do something about the fraud. Even if his decision wasn’t wrong, he made people believe he would do something else and THAT is wrong.
He didn’t have the same fighting spirit that Trump has. This feels like a betrayal because if you are in Trumps circle it is expected of you to fight back after Trump has been fighting for so long.
When it was pence’s time to step up, he stepped aside. This is not MAGA. And in the context of this environment, it “feels” wrong.
I’m not sure why you have such a difficult time understanding this.
"officials say".

Played how? This isn't a fucking movie, did you really expect him to go scorched earth on his VP. Pence will never hold another office again anyway.
