What Orwell feared were those would ban books. What Huxley feared was there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who would want to read one. Orwell feared those would deprive us of information. Huxley fear those would give us so much that we’d be reduced to passivity and egoism. Orwell fear that the truth will be concealed from us. Huxley fear that the truth be drowned out in the sea of Irrelevance. Orwell feared that we would become a captive culture. Huxley fear that would become a trivial culture preoccupied with some equivalent of the “feelies”, the “orgy Porgie” and the centrifugal bumble puppy.
