Anything other than a small, limited government that is 100% bound by the constitution, accountable and representative of the people and only focused on the defense of the nation and protecting the God given rights of the individual is intolerable.

Great reset needed. Just not for economy. I don't understand why we can't get for smaller government now. In the past we had huge debate over needing a federal government and the overriding argument was that we needed to pool our resources and communication in order to defend each state against threats of other nations.

We have obviously lost that benefit regardless. And not to mention with communications digital, interstate highways and transport built now, currency and trade being instant and digital, we have no need for a large federal government.

We could transition back to clusters of small governments that work together when needed fairly easily. Like a neural network of state government.

If all states become threatened, like actually threatened, then all states work together to their best ability. If say there is a natural disaster in the gulf by hurricane, then gulf states work together and midwest and Northeast states can opt to help if they can and if not, well we really shouldn't hold it against them. But the reverse is true if the western coast catches on fire. Let it be the western coasts problem and other states can pitch in with resources if they have the means.

We can react quickly enough these days with communication and transport now that the idea is feasible, where in the last the federalist arguments was that it was not the case so we need a centralized "server" of law and resources to send out and that was the most effective at the time.

So why not "defund" the federal government give states back the power - maintain a small federal government very small - and giving states the power to do what they need to do for their economy, people, climates, etc?

Oh I'll tell you why. Because our federal government is a godamn swamp and we have lost control over it, which was the fear of fears when it was established.

I like ancap-ism in theory and it would work great inba vacuum. The problem is other nations. If the nation turns into essentially mega citystates they will be much easier for a country like china to take over. A bunch of states cant come up with a navy like the one we have now.

Once you expand the government it is nearly impossible to reign it back in no matter how hard you try. Even Trump with all the power of the executive and a “friendly” congress in his first 2 years could barely dent the government, and it’s not for a lack of effort.

It’s the same thing with rights too. Once the government learns it can take away your rights and you won’t fight back then it will gladly do so. And once the government does take away your rights good luck getting them back

Anti-secession laws are inherently unamerican. America itself was founded by rebels who seceded from the British Empire. America was founded on the principle that all humans have a right to self-determination. If America itself bans secession because “it would hurt the other states!” then the US is no better than the British Monarchy in 1776. I’m sure the revolution hurt the British but that didn’t stop the founding fathers from seeking liberty.

There are 3 context in which we must have government (ie an individual or small group of people could not achieve these without the consent (and money) of all people):

  • Defense against foreign aggression
  • Law creation and enforcement
  • Infrastructure (eg roads and bridges)

That’s it. No BS Department of Education that indoctrinated our kids. No Department of Health that consumes the majority of our taxes. No Social Security Administration to act as politicians blank check and way to indebt our country for eternity.
