He could rightfully convince Texas to get the fuck out of this shitty union that doesn't even have real elections and probably take a handful of states with us.

I love my president BUT he is a New Yorker.... Only native born Texans have held the office since Gov Hogg (1890s) until today save for GW Bush but he had long roots here in the state, especially with the oil industry. Actually him being born in Conneticuit was a campaign issue, especially in the primaries. Trump is big and bombastic and we like that but the lack of an accent and Texas swagger would hurt his chances. Plus we like people who make up words like Bush did. Oddly enough that is a Texas trait as long as it is witty or funny. It takes decades of exposure and practice to do it correctly.

Dude, are you pretending like Trump wouldn't win the TX governorship by a landslide?

Not pretending anything. President is one thing, Gov is a different animal altogether. Besides it is mostly a ceremonial post, the Lt Gov has the actual power in the state.

That is incorrect.

The TX Governor alone directs the executive branch of Texas. He alone has the power to approve and veto bills. He is the commander in chief of the Texas Military Department.

The LG is just the president of the fucking Senate and leads the legislative budget board. I've been a TX resident for 43 years and I've never known the name of a single LG.

You have it ass backwards.

The Lt Gov is in charge of the budget, he holds all the purse strings. The Gov is in charge of signing legislation into law, that is about it. Yes he is in charge of the state's military just like any other gov. I think it is cute you have been here for 43 years, I have been here since 1962 and active in Texas politics most of my adult life. This is a cut and paste of the Wiki page:

"Texas is one of the few states that vests significant power in the office of lieutenant governor, making it among the most influential. By contrast, the lieutenant governor position in other states has few (if any) legislative responsibilities, akin to the vice president of the United States. The consequence is that the governor of Texas is weaker than other states' governors."
