Others note theirs are set to "silent" by default. Just checked my Samsung (by searching "emergency" in settings) and sure enough - silent.
This is not a drill - check your phone then alert others!

Ring your friends in the middle of the night to "test" their phone. 3am preferably to make it a real test.
