Others note theirs are set to "silent" by default. Just checked my Samsung (by searching "emergency" in settings) and sure enough - silent.

This is not a drill - check your phone then alert others!

The Alert You are referencing is for Samsung S.O.S type program. You can program the phone to send out your location, contact people, etc.

Search Exactly Emergency Broadcast, you will see types of alerts you can receive. Presidential Alerts should be at the top.

It is confusing but check for yourselves.

No results found for me.

No results for anything with "broadcast" in it.

I just spent half an hour looking for EBS settings and found NOTHING. I know I have seen them before and remember I couldn't turn the Presidential one off.

The "emergency" setting I described in my OP is a stand alone setting - not under SOS.

I don't know what is going on, but setting my "emergency" notification to "alert" from silence sounds like a good idea in any case...
