Others note theirs are set to "silent" by default. Just checked my Samsung (by searching "emergency" in settings) and sure enough - silent.
This is not a drill - check your phone then alert others!

As did mine. It seems as if Samsung locks this within their variation of the Android OS. These settings vary wildly from manufacturer to carrier.
That is very true.
I always appreciate these kinds of posts that remind you to check stuff out on your phone.
I know I would not have thought to check it out on my own.
