Others note theirs are set to "silent" by default. Just checked my Samsung (by searching "emergency" in settings) and sure enough - silent.

This is not a drill - check your phone then alert others!

Instructions to see settings on Samsung S8+ on T-Mobile:

Open messages app--> Click three dots top right--> Click settings--> Click emergency alert settings--> Emergency alerts.

On this phone Presidential alerts cannot be disabled. Or so it says. This option was not searchable from the settings search bar. The Samsung SOS feature is what pops up for me.

You have to use the Samsung messaging app to find these settings. The default Android one did not have them. Search the app drawer for messages to find both.

Thank you for the instructions.
Works also on a Note 10 + Interesting that mine has at the top once you get there the words "Presidential Alerts are mandatory & can not be shut off."

As did mine. It seems as if Samsung locks this within their variation of the Android OS. These settings vary wildly from manufacturer to carrier.
