78 year and I still haven't taken it once.

Imagine thinking I will take a "covid" vaccine that came out a month ago?

SpineLicker [S] 14 points ago +14 / -0

BECAUSE YOU ARE A STOMPER!! NEVER CHANGE!

Art-Vandelay41 5 points ago +5 / -0

I always get the flu shot cause the years that I haven’t gotten the shot, the flu puts me out of commission. But when I get the shot and if I still get the flu it’s usually a lot milder. I got the flu shot again this year.

But there is no way in HELL I am getting this covid shot.

FlyinHeadlock 26 points ago +27 / -1

And heart disease is the #1 killer but soda is the #1 food stamp item. If we just focus on taking soda off the list of approved items it would save more lives and reduce healthcare costs.

7
SpineLicker [S] 7 points ago +8 / -1

TRUE.

14
DrCowboyPresident 14 points ago +14 / -0

It's truly amazing how much of that garbage people drink.

In the 90s especially, during the low fat stupidity when everyone thought carbs and sugar were great.

11
Hellann 11 points ago +11 / -0

I stopped drinking soda 2 years ago and I'm happy I did. I'm still unhealthy, but just a bit less. 😋

1
Art-Vandelay41 1 point ago +1 / -0

Does beer count as a soda?

3
Plugthegamey 3 points ago +3 / -0

Its not good for you, but it's not as damaging to your body as liquid sugar and corn syrup.

1
Gyrfalcon 1 point ago +1 / -0

High fructose corn syrup.

1
markolbb 1 point ago +1 / -0

No dude! Beer is good for you, it contains alcohol which kills all the germs so you never get sick anyways. If you got the flu, it's because you didn't have enough alcohol in your system. Trust me, I'm a doctor.

i'm not in any way a doctor

1
Assault-Covfefe 1 point ago +1 / -0

So, there may be some validity to your sacarsm. One friend of ours didn't come down with the Shanghai Sniffles after the new year like the rest of us. The main difference: Dude is a full blown alcoholic. easily drinks 5, 6, 7 high alcohol beers 4 - 5 nights a week.

Soda is not bought more often on SNAP then by people who use cash or credit. Same rate as people not on SNAP.

The issue with banning sugary drinks on snap is that things like orange juice would fall under the two sugary category. It’s also unrealistic to ban arbitrary items.

1
FlyinHeadlock 1 point ago +2 / -1

Drink water. It's tax dollar money. Beggers can't be choosy. Hell, I would also just drop ship MRE's. Just food and water. Take it or leave it. Bet people start trying to get off food stamps that absolutely can. Massive fraud in that program. I see it all the time,

0
JerryJerryJerry 0 points ago +1 / -1

So we get to pay for the crappy foods (sorry, OJ is just as bad as sugary soda) and for the healthcare costs for the type II 'betus, obesity, cholesterol, heart disease, etc., that is caused by the crappy foods? Sweet!

And are lottery tickets and cigarettes considered "arbitrary items?" Beep "Sorry, can't use that for that." Seems pretty realistic.

1
FattyWatt 1 point ago +1 / -0

How about starting with.... REMOVE WELFARE! :)

2
FlyinHeadlock 2 points ago +2 / -0

Kinda my point. Water and basic food. Intent is to get them off their ass because they hate the food. And no selling the MRE's. Take it or leave it. Get caught selling them and go to jail.

1
2020_DJT_ 1 point ago +2 / -1

Government still shouldn't be allowed to dictate what you can and can not buy.

2
Plugthegamey 2 points ago +2 / -0

I mean... if you're using money from food stamps to buy lobster and only Pepsi for your children, I think maybe the government should be able to say stop that. Do you know how many families sell drugs and apply for welfare and food stamps and spend it all on lobster and expensive bags? They dont actually need food stamps because of drug money, but all that is under the table, so they would be idiots for not taking advantage of the system (how they see it, not me). But hey if you have your own money, buy whatever you want. This is america. The food stamp thing pisses me off. Heroine addicts sell them outside our winn Dixie for 50 cents on the dollar.

0
2020_DJT_ 0 points ago +1 / -1

Add a drug test prior to receiving checks from the gov, incentivize healthy eating and other good habits (seeking career help, education, learning a trade), etc.

1
Gyrfalcon 1 point ago +1 / -0

But who determines healthy eating? All the high carb, sugar loaded stuff or keto which gets slammed every new year as the worst diet?

17
VerGreeneyes 17 points ago +18 / -1

The flu mutates so much that there isn't really a singular vaccine for it. Flu shots protect you from the variants expected to be most prevalent in the coming period.

That might end up being true for the Coof as well, but for some reason we're treating it like it's the Black Death, so we're trying really hard to make modern vaccines that work regardless of mutation.

17
booblitchutz 17 points ago +17 / -0

The freak out over covid has nothing to do with the virus, though. Had this virus spread around during Hillary’s presidency it would have been treated just like Swine Flu. No big deal.

9
SpineLicker [S] 9 points ago +9 / -0

That's kinda my point....

5
WinMoreReeLess 5 points ago +5 / -0

And Plague still exists. The WHO lists 1000-2000 reported cases every year.

14
Outlawjohnny 14 points ago +14 / -0

given its disappearance what if we have been dealing with a manufactured disease every year to keep the vaccine industry going since it has largely turned up with negligible results for many many years

7
MaxineWaters4Prez 7 points ago +8 / -1

If nothing else, this year has cemented it for me. The annual vaccines became mandatory for healthcare workers many years ago. If you declined, you were shamed into wearing a mask for 6 months while at work.

Now nobody wants either flu or WuFlu shots, not surprisingly, because we all have to wear masks at work anyway.

3
FattyWatt 3 points ago +3 / -0

REFUSE to wear the mask. then mention Civil Liberties Act of 1964.... ehh i think it's title2or4. Employers are violating the constitution, by assuming your health. Then, forcing you to wear PPE that doesn't apply to the job you're working with. UNCONSTITUTIONAL what these employers are doing. Remember, theres HIPPA (your health PRIVACY!!! Ur employers cannot legally ask for ur health-status).

7
deplorabillybot 7 points ago +7 / -0

I don't think that's outside the realm of possibilities.

12
Trilby 12 points ago +12 / -0

I know, right? The flu, like the poor, will always be with us!

They used to call pneumonia The Old Man's Friend because it finished off very old and infirm people rather quickly. Now they treat and treat and try to save everyone as if we won't all die someday. Today we would have to "ungender" it of course, but it's the same principle with this Chinese flu, isn't it?

The term is attributed to William Osler, who in the first edition of his book The Principles and Practice of Medicine (1892) wrote:

In children and in healthy adults the outlook is good. In the debilitated, in drunkards and in the aged the chances are against recovery. So fatal is it in the latter class [i.e. the elderly] that it has been termed the natural end of the old man.

10
MaxineWaters4Prez 10 points ago +10 / -0

In hospitals we've colloquially referred to the person of extreme age with a slew of comorbities as suffering from TMB, Too Many Birthdays or EBS, Excessive Birthday Syndrome.

booblitchutz 7 points ago +7 / -0

That’s some dark ass humor, there kimosabe.

6

7

People taking Vitamin D (w/K2 if you don't have any blood clotting disorders), Vitamin C, and zinc every day during the winter would probably help a lot.

4
booblitchutz 4 points ago +4 / -0

Diet matters, no question. But the most impactful thing you can do is get daily significant exercise, get fresh air and sunlight. That will correct a lot of other things, like diet, alcohol intake, smoking (including pot, shitheads) and sleep.

100 years of the flu. Usual treatment Tylenol or Motrin plus vitamins plus lots of water.

oh that’s because its constantly mutating! and don’t think too hard about how that creates some infinite job security for the pandemic industry, or they magically know which mutation is going to be the flavor of the year and they are able to mass-produce the vaccines in advance.

3
WANGIroll20s 3 points ago +5 / -2

Note about flu vaccines: the annual flu vaccine is actually a concoction of multiple vaccines. Each year a panel of doctors meet and essentially make a best guess at which strains of the virus are going to make their rounds in any given years. They make their decision and throw together a blended vaccine that is supposed to have the broadest and robust coverage for that flu season. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes not. Also, a body will stop making antibodies for specific viruses overtime unless it is exposed to the virus again. That’s why the flu vaccine is an annual thing.

8
JonathanE 8 points ago +9 / -1

That would certainly explain why there are no flu cases anywhere in the world this last year

4
Trilby 4 points ago +4 / -0

All flu cases are now listed as COVID.

3
WANGIroll20s 3 points ago +4 / -1

They make the best guess and sometimes get it wrong. In addition, new strains/mutations are always popping up and not everyone gets vaccinated each year. They will never be able to eliminate all influenza deaths.

8
Kekistaniphil 8 points ago +9 / -1

And somehow we got to the point that getting injected with who the fuck knows what every year by strangers who think they know better (but are openly guessing) is a good idea.

The problems in this country go back a long way.

1
WANGIroll20s 1 point ago +1 / -0

That’s personally why I don’t get the flu vaccines.

7
booblitchutz 7 points ago +7 / -0

Almost every person I know who has tested positive for the coof has fallen into two categories:

  1. They tested positive but had no symptoms, only took the test because they were told they were “exposed”.
  2. They had minor symptoms.

I do however know one person who died “from” coof. He was 400 lbs, diabetic, pushing 60 and had a heart condition. Not shitting on the mans grave, just saying his health was a ticking time bomb before coof.

5
Kekistaniphil 5 points ago +5 / -0

May he rest in peace.

Certainly sounds like a bad flu would have taken him out too.

1
booblitchutz 1 point ago +1 / -0

With the obesity, diabetes and heart condition really anything could bring about a fatal episode. A bit of water down the wrong pipe...

I’m not on Facebook so I am not getting the stream of covid stories I’m sure those of you who are still addicts get, I only hear it face to face and because of that I really get a more honest evaluation. My sister had it and I was talking to her over Christmas and she was telling me it was so awful, being general, so I pressed her on what she specifically went through and it amounted to a low fever, loss of smell and lethargy. That’s the difference between the generalized narrative people put out on social media and the truth. Get face to face and the story softens a LOT.

1
dontCensorMeBro 1 point ago +1 / -0

So you could just as well get yourself naturally immune through infection, instead of injecting yourself with god knows what side effects it has.

3

2
booblitchutz 2 points ago +2 / -0

I’ve had the flu many times. It always sucks really bad. So much so that I decided many years ago to take the flu shot. Since then I’ve had one flu. So it’s not perfect but it does help a lot.

None of my flus in my life were a mild fever and loss of smell. That’s chump change. The flu for me is down for the count for a week and another week clawing back out of it. Sick as balls.

Death by flu shot Improper storage recall, not the ones that killed people still?!

“The vaccine initiative, billed as a strategy to potentially offset complications from Covid-19, aims to provide free flu jabs to 19 million people. But the ambitious undertaking has come under fire after 25 people died, including a 17-year-old boy and a man in his 70s, after participating in the program. The number jumped from 12 deaths reported earlier on Thursday.

The vaccination drive was suspended for three weeks after it was revealed that around five million doses, which require refrigeration, had been stored at room temperature while being transpired to a medical facility. The program resumed on October 13. None of the people who died received the recalled doses.”

The China Flu vaccine will mean mandatory shots forever. No vaccination record verifying it = no acceptance to school or university, no admittance to any white collar job and most blue collar jobs, no boarding flights. This, I fear, will open the legal framework for overriding religious exceptions, etc. for other vaccines or medical procedures.

Imagine seeing all the bullshit with the COVID vaccine, but still trusting the flu vaccine.

The COVID vaccine isn’t unique. The whole vaccine industry is corrupt and based on bad science and cherry picked trials.

1
inventodoc 1 point ago +1 / -0

Influenza combines and makes new strains, hence we get a new flu each year. Now talk about diphtheria, tetanus, rubella, polio, measles and smallpox. That's what vaccines can do for you.! The China virus vaccines will work very well.

I'm 36 years old and still have NEVER had the flu in my entire life. I have also never had a flu shot. Go figure. I did get COVID 3 weeks ago. I had minor body aches for about 2 days. My wife had the same with some lethargy and a fever of 99.7 that gave her a headache. Our 5 month old breastfed child experienced zero symptoms. 17 people including myself in our family tested positive. Most had no symptoms. My father-in-law had the worst of it with chest congestion and a cough. Why is the country shut down?

-1
mrsucko -1 points ago +1 / -2

That's because the Flu mutates multiple times a year. Thus, we need to continually make vaccines for current strains.

Vaccines are often not a one-shot-solves-all kind of payload. They often give your body ONE blueprint to fight against one type of virus, for that particular period of time.

1
silflay 1 point ago +1 / -0

I understand. And I don't care. I'm done having to get yearly injections of whatever bullshit is in these. The flu once a year for work was bad enough. Now COVID? How many are we going to need yearly?

And why is the ONLY SOLUTION a vaccine? No one ever suggests getting healthier, exercising, getting zinc and vitamin D.

0
mrsucko 0 points ago +1 / -1

You should care, because being informed on how viruses work and how your body builds a defense against them is important. Awareness of preventing the spread of diseases is an important aspect to being a biological human being, especially if you're in a dense population.

And why is the ONLY SOLUTION a vaccine?

Because the vaccine fools your body into fighting a dead virus, which then tells your immune system the pattern of the virus payload, which also then develops antibodies that can fight any further viral infections of the same virus.

That's like saying "why is oil the ONLY SOLUTION to lubricating my car's engine???" That's because using butter doesn't work. Formulated oil is the best lubricant to keep your car's engine running smooth, and you have to change your oil often to make sure that any contaminants are flushed out, etc. It's just another thing that we have to periodically do, in order to maintain our cars. So why not maintain your health?

And that's also not to say that vaccines don't come with a risk. They do. People can get sick and die from vaccines. People who change oil in cars can also forget to put new oil in and kill your car. In both cases it's extremely rare. That's just how life is. You take risks and hope for the best. Not taking a vaccine simple means that you're not arming your body with the blueprint to fight off certain strains of a virus for a period of time. You could still get sick. You could also not get sick.

No one ever suggests getting healthier, exercising, getting zinc and vitamin D.

While these are all good things, which can increase your general health, going for a jog will not tell your immune system how to fight off certain viruses. Getting zinc and vitamin D will not prevent you from getting the Flu. It might help you mitigate some symptoms, but it will not prevent you from contracting diseases.

Conversely, if you maintain your body and have a high degree of health, I'd say that you are less likely to experience severe symptoms of diseases, but that makes a lot of assumptions about your genetics and any other health issues you may or may not have.

The point is, you should care. Vaccines are important, but it's also your body and I'm not about to tell you what you should or should not put in your body. I'm only going to advocate that it's worth the risks. I used to never get vaccines and I'd get sick at least 2-3 times a year. When I started taking the Flu vaccine, I stopped getting sick. I know that's just one anecdote and I'm just one guy, but that at least tells me that vaccines somewhat work with me (or at least they have up until this point).

And my opinion on the COVID vaccine, is that I'm not going to take it. This vaccine was, in my opinion, rushed to the point where I believe some safety protocols were overlooked. I don't believe it's safe to rush to take a vaccine - especially during a time of mass panic.

1
silflay 1 point ago +1 / -0

Horrible analogy with engine oil. You don’t need a vaccine to function. My point is that it’s blatantly obvious the only reason vaccines are pushed as the only solution (particularly for covid) is either elites and big pharma stand to make trillions off it, or there’s something more sinister going on.

Covid is dangerous to a microscopic subset of the population and can be effectively mitigated through standard precautions. No reason for a vaccine nor all the idiotic fanfare behind it.

0
mrsucko 0 points ago +1 / -1

I'm explaining Flu vaccines, you idiot. Not making a direct comparison. The engine oil was a loose example of how using one thing regularly can help.

Gosh, do you need toys and a visual aid to understand something so ridiculously simple?

1
silflay 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don’t need a fucking explanation, chief. I’m quite aware of how they work. I’m telling you I’m done with it. My trust is destroyed.

0
mrsucko 0 points ago +1 / -1

If you knew how they worked, then you would've not made such an idiotic statement in the first place.

Quit licking your bruised ego and move on. Jesus christ.

1
Based_psychologist 1 point ago +1 / -0

This will be the case for the Chinese Flu too. Except this is so politicized and hyped that the Democrat policy of "never let a crisis go to waste" will push it into the mandatory realm.

0
mrsucko 0 points ago +1 / -1

I mean, it might be the case. I feel like we've barely had time to research this virus, relative to the extensive research we have with the Flu. To have a new strain of the WuFlu isn't beyond comprehension.

It's just that the lockdowns, etc, are ridiculous. COVID has, what, 2x the average death rate per year, so far? And compared to other types of deaths per year, and infection rates being so low compared to the population of the US, COVID isn't anywhere near as lethal as people are making it out to be.

In my opinion, if the media wasn't so hell bent on creating absolute panic, the hospitals would've never been overrun and people would not have made a run on things like toilet paper, etc. This is why I support Trump's view on not creating a panic early last year.
