Given Steven’s ratings and good relationship with prominent republicans - and members of their families - I can’t help but think he’s setting up some sort of bigger media outlet or show for something important.

I am just saying - if your business is a political news and commentary podcast, this is not a good time to take a month off. Same way as retailers try not to take vacation on Boxing day.
He's definitely mentioned it. I believe that before he left, he at the very least said in an episode "We'll be back around mid January."
And yeah, it's not a great time to do this, but he does it because he usually has some Christmas Extravaganza, or in the case of the election this year an exhausting schedule keeping up on everything.
This year especially it would be fiscally responsible to come back sooner, but at the same time, perhaps he's taking the time to make sure he's prepared if shit goes down. Guy did start carrying all the time around the Election, and he does have a wife recovering from a serious condition.
I'm just saying, there's what we know of what he's got going on, and what he knows of what he's got going on.
And remember, he's got to get skits written and recorded, animations made, song parodies recorded, etc. Broadcasting is a small portion of the work he has to do. There's a pretty good chance that he's back to work now for episodes that may air in a week. Because he's actually a comedy show, despite being more accurate reporting than 99% of the news.
