I think most of it was improv. I'm not 100 precent certain but I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that each scene would have a general outline of what they wanted to happen but not much of a script so that the actors co freely Improve their characters and make it flow very naturally, realistically.
That seems right, it feels improvised if you’re watching for it. Plus most of the people on the show are from various improv groups. The old MTV improv show “The State”, is where a lot of them started.
I’ve seen snippets, but it was airing when I was still in elementary school. It was basically SNL for teenagers. I remember the catchphrase, “I’m going to put my balls in that!” or something like that, lol.
Edit: quick search, it was “I’m gonna dip my balls in it!”.
