been using it for years, its amazing, has chats, private chats public chats, emotes, gifs, memes (stickers) you have the ability to create "SECURE" private chats with self-destruct functions (auto deletes your messages after a period of time) you can set the timer yourself, and the best part is that all encryption codes are held NOT on the servers, but on your own Phone/PC which means data can be only stolen only if you allow it to be stolen.
The last place for freedom of speech.
Pretty much Tor Browser chat (darknet) but way more simplified for the common user. You can even find all sorts of dark and illegal groups/chats/bots if you desire such, they dont sell you out to the government, as proof - not a single person ever in the history got in jail for telegram yet.
(im not paid by telegram, im just glad that this app has finally been getting attention)
It requires a phone number to sign up. Even when I supplied two numbers that I have it said "invalid phone number". You also cannot sign up in a web version but need to download their desktop app if you don't have a smartphone.
Yeah there has been quite a push towards Signal now with Elon on top. I don't trust Signal, but some Pede argued it's safer than Telegram. I have Telegram for years and there are many features how you can make it more secure.
It's going to be the same shit as Twitter and Google. Signal is owned by the same group of people. Even if the encryption might be better, your giving those evil fucks more power and in the next two years you will be in the same place looking for a new home
You're right. Found it: Telegram was launched in 2013 by brothers Nikolai and Pavel Durov. Previously, the pair founded the Russian social network VK, which they left when it was taken over by the Mail.ru Group.
Yeah so I don't know all the intracacies. But it's different owner than signal. Signal owners gave us shit book and twatter. You can keep banging your head against the wall. Or try something new
Yeah. As is said i have been using Telegram for 3 years now and never had a problem. I also get updates from many content creators which where previously banned by youtube, twatter, fadebook etc. Thats part of the reason i have it.
I've used Telegram for a few days now and from what I can tell it is pretty damn good. It has channels and group chats for channels. I deactivated twitter and subscribed to disclose.tv on telegram for news updates. Signal is more of a whatsapp replacement which is good because whatsapp is owned by facebook.
I just got on Telegram a few days ago pedes. Highly recommend!! It's easier to use than Parlor. Like Discord, except cleaner and without the censorship.
Yes! You have to give out your phone number (just like Parler), BUT there's a way around it. I have a cheap lil burner that just gets texts and calls. No internet. Then you can type in any name you want to go by and voila. You got ya self an anon account.
Telegram is not a good privacy solution, and it's tightly controlled by founders that could turn around anytime and sell it to Facebook/Google/Microsoft/etc. There are better choices:
TFW I get excited then realize I no longer have any friends or family I want to talk to.
Oof, right in the feels
Man I'm pretty much there with ya
Lucky for me 90% of friends and family are Trumpers and damn proud!
Your home brother you got us lot of completely insane but patriotic mad lads lolol
Should I have telegram? What does it do ?

handshake accounts asking and answering sales pitch questions
Where are the servers based?
Noticed that it has an app on Apple. Did read that IBM used to own their servers but IBM stopped their service. Cannot find anything thereafter.

Telegram and Signal are both good in my book. They are both vastly better than any of the FB/Google owned chat/message iterations.
Apparently Jack Dorsey has a large stake in Signal.
Signal is owned by the non-profit Signal Foundation. Jack Dorsey is not part of it.
Isn't that Square you mean? A money company.
Well shit
remember that when everyone is trying to push you into signal instead.....

You know who owns Telegram? They operate currently out of Dubai. Not very convincing, but the code is open source which had me convinced.
I'm pretty sure telegram is Russian technology. But I'm not certain

Just resent post from 2018

Not that I know of...but there surely is a demand!!
This ⬆️👍👌
Can you remain anonymous in the channels?

Thanks Pede definitely needed this info.
They require a phone number? I’m really regretting giving parler my number. I didn’t post much on there but I don’t want to make that mistake again.
