The entire Loeffler debacle is Trump's fault. Don't buy it? Allow me to enlighten you:

  1. In 2019 Gov Nathan Deal was term-limited and D's and R's held primary elections for Gov.

  2. About a week prior to the R primary, candidate Casey Cagle was comfortably ahead. Candidate Brian Kemp was polling second.

  3. Less than a week out, Trump threw his weight behind Kemp. Georgia 2016 Trump voters followed PotUS lead and nominated Kemp over the arguably better candidate.

  4. GA Senator Johnny Isakson resigned at the end of 2019 leaving the seat to be appointed by Gov Kemp until the next scheduled election (Nov 2020).

  5. Trump endorsed Doug Collins for the spot.

  6. Kemp appointed Loeffler.

  7. Doug Collins, Kelly Loeffler, Raphael Warnock, and 14 other candidates get placed on a single "jungle ballot" for the general election, since it's technically a "special election".

  8. Trump endorses NOBODY.

  9. Loeffler and Collins split the R vote. Combined, their vote total was over 50%. Had they not split the ticket, one of them would have locked it up that night. No runoff.

Every time Trump stuck his beak (or failed to) into GA politics, he made the situation worse. Loeffler and Kemp are both unforced errors. Why did he not endorse the INCUMBENT!? Especially when there is ambiguity, since Trump endorsed Collins previously for the same job.
