By raising minimum wage, you are increasing unemployment and also increasing the cost of goods. When businesses must raise prices to pay for the higher labor costs, then your higher minimum wage goes to pay for higher cost goods, thereby canceling out the increase in minimum wage all the while causing great disruption to the free market.
Also, government increases minimum wage to increase its own tax revenues. Higher income means higher taxes.

Back when I was in high school and college, we used to work internships for FREE. For no wage at all. Why? Because the on the job training as well as an internship on our resumes was going to be extremely valuable when we graduated.
