This. I found it curious. There are any number of more notable cities in very close proximity to go and visit. Why tiny little "Alamo" when it's basically just a suburb of McAllen? McAllen is would make more sense, or Brownsville, or Harlingen...
Probably it was because that more isolated area serves the purpose, and is easier for the SS to lock down and protect vs. a more urban area. And "Alamo" has a nice ring to it.
Or maybe it's something else. In any case, it's curious.
