I lost a long standing ten dollar bet with my sister in law about this. I swore he'd legalize it right before this past election to push his approval to an absurd high.
Can't believe he didn't utilize this mega-boost.
But here we are. Let the Dems do the inevitable and take all the credit for it, why not. Fuck.
He pandered too much to the traditional conservatives instead of focusing on the independents and libertarians. The highly religious conservatives would have voted straight republican anyway, certainly not democrat. He fucked up.
Trump didn't pander to traditional conservatives so much in 20202; he pandered mostly to Liberals, Minorities, and Independents.WHat conservative in their right mind goes for things like criminal justice reform and Platinum Plan?
When I was completing my masters at a somewhat conservative college, I saw much evidence to confirm this statement. Many libertarian students (considerable faction o students) sat out this election and said they would have voted for Trump if he legalized weed and pardoned Assange. The anti-gun shit he did didn't help convince them either.
Dude they block HCQ on safety grounds and censor doctors who recommend it and meanwhile happily put kids as young as 3 on antipsychotic medication and do nothing to discourage teens from using all manner of drugs, illegal or otherwise.
Legalizing weed, which is probably 20 times stronger than the grass the hippies smoked might be somewhat necessary on one level, but is far from a thing someone should take credit for.
As I said, "legalizing... might be somewhat necessary".
But at the same time, the war on America very much includes the fact that China has been shipping in tons of terrible pills for years now, and I think now more die from opioid OD's than from any other preventable cause of death. Meanwhile kids eat crappy food, play video games and go on social media over exercise, and then by 25 have often taken enough booze, adderal, pot and party pills to last a lifetime. This is not normal. And it strongly relates to the current situations.
Trump has tried to do what he can on criminal reform and it's not like millions are being incarcerated for weed anyways. It's hardly enforced. Sure, let's end incarcerations for non-violent, victimless crimes. But not sure it's that common these days anyway.

Doesn't matter how well you play it the other guys are all cheating.

Ending a fruitless "war on drugs" that imprisoned tons of people over a plant isn't something to be listed as an accomplishment?
I get that it's a drug, a mind altering substance.
So is booze. So is tobacco. So is sugar.
Putting people in a cage over some dried plant buds is stupid and counterproductive. In my opinion.

decriminalizing is great but we don't need to legalize weed.
Anything that makes it impossible for me to get locked in a cage if I grow the wrong plant in my garden is fine by me.
Convenience is nice but really I just want to do my thing and not have people all the way up my butt about it.
