TDS seems to hurt people's ability to think beyond their hatred for Trump. To them, it wouldn't matter if Trump cured cancer, solved world hunger and created world peace but because Trump said something mean on Twitter, Trump is a bad person and must be eliminated.

My wife lost a friend who was a neighbor who was very liberal. They did not talk politics, just family stuff, books, health etc. My wife does not like to discuss politics or religion. Her friend cut her off, I offered the explanation that liberals could not stand to be around somebody who does not share their paradigm of belief. Maybe one day we will understand and forgive one another. Build bridges and walk over them to care about the other side.
I lost my parents Jan 6th. We will not reconcile. Dad went off on me then my wife told me he went off on her earlier in the day. Unlike my father who let his family degrade and belittle my mother, I stand with my wife who has been with me longer than I lived under their control.
Sadly I know it isn't me. They have alienated themselves from society with covid and believe everything they see on tv and I am just an idiot.............at this point I just hung up and told my wife that's it. Even took pictures off the wall. I will no longer be scorned by people that will not even engage with their son without attacking them.
Did I tell you I came out of major surgery and he was the only person I called that day. I was still drugged up and He ruined a relationship in under five minutes.
When Trump got elected i only heard bad things about him, so I was wondering how such bad man culd be elected president. After couple months of following his presidential work there was nothing much to complain. It was strange that many people just hated him because of media. I never cared about politic because of corruption and lies, but Trump is different one in a life time president. If he fails now, we all are doomed.
The way the left thinks is, if you like a politician, you LOVE them. You endorse everything about them and they completely embody your values. It has very little to do with their policies and accomplishments. It’s all symbolic. The right is (largely) PRACTICAL. What are their policies? Are they following through on them? Does the country benefit? Anyway, so when you’re talking to a leftist, and you support Trump, they think you view him in the first way when in fact you view him in the second.
That's a shame. I mean, I've lost friends and my brother won't talk to me. I don't mind too much, but at this point, I'm not going to stand up for Trump around family anymore.
