who uses microsoft edge?. Internet Explorer did not work for them, then came the crap Edge based on Chromium. Gates busy selling vaccines. Only Brave Nighty and Vivaldi.
Even i use Linux and dont load the Crap Microsoft on Laptop and PC

I only use it strictly for work-related functions. There is a way to make it so that a new tab makes it blank. Which means no garbage.

Click the 3 dots in the top right, select settings, select 'on startup', set your home startup page to about:blank.
