Sadly, Detroit does still look like this. I live near the 8 mile border and commute down John R/Dequindre when the highways are backed up. Once you get into the little hubs of New Center/Woodbridge/Indian Village/Downtown it's all nice and dandy but everything else is total shit. There's very few gas stations that I actually feel safe going to. The neighborhoods are dilapidated and they're still holding onto this hope that Obama/Biden will bring their city to new highs.
Detroit hasn't looked like that in 10 years.
