It would make more sense if you knew the truth behind Jesus. Jesus was an advanced being who temporarily incarnated as a human so that he could give his philosophy of love to the Earth. The “week” is Daniels 70th week, which is the 7 year tribulation period, halfway through, the “Obama-nation that causes desolation” (I’m only kidding) will break the covenant with Israel. All it seems to says is “he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering”, meaning there has to be a temple there. 3.5 years is enough time to build one. These are Jewish calendar years, BTW.

Agreed. While we should "trust the plan" of Christ's return, does not mean we sit by and do nothing. This concept has corrupted the American church and the biggest reason we are where we are at. The Bible mentions a similar problem with some Thessalonians not doing anything because the thought Jesus was returning soon:
