For everyone else, though, honoring past presidents is part of the prestige of the USA. They retain Secret Service protection and have various other honors. The Democrats are trying to financially and reputationally destroy President Trump, and in so doing, destroy the America First movement he started. The MAGA crowd has opportunity to show our muscle and counteract that.
If you are choosing a hotel in Chicago/NYC etc., you have the option of deliberately choosing a hotel the Democrats don't want you to choose, and frustrating their plans to demonize, mock, and financially ruin a man who has done good things for America.
To his point, you are literally describing how WE keep paying him in taxes....secondly, he could not make another dime and be fine...can you say the same?
If you're going to spend the money anyway, you can choose where to spend it. That's all I'm saying.
If you can't afford to pay for a hotel room (or a mid/upper end hotel room), then of course do what is financially prudent for you and/or your family. I'm a big fan of saving money, and rarely do trips like this myself.
On a broader note, though, I think all patriots should look at which banks and stores are practicing cancel culture and decide where we want to do business.
