A good infiltrator doesn't throw a tantrum at the door, giving away their intention; they'll work with the target, gather intel, and at the key moment, do the deed. Trump chose Pence mainly to secure the Evangelical vote in 2016, a decision that probably both helped him get over the finish line in the '16 cycle and also trip him up at the '20 cycle.
