He has asserted the company was taken over by Russian intelligence and thats why he left Russia and claims he has no plans on ever returning. He has since acquired citizenship in St Kitts and Nevis. Telegram was founded after he left Russia. Not saying we should trust him 100% but he is a lot more principled than Zuckerberg.
