I don't think they had any intention whatsoever of him winning, and thus the panicked 11/10 behavior for the entire term starting day 1. Also if you haven't noticed the absolute ferocity with which they made sure this election was theirs... They're fucking pissed about the last 4 years and likely intend to exact some vengeance.
The only reason they let him in is because they thought he'd fuck up so bad that no one would let this happen again.
Now they had to tear him down and make an example of him and change laws and commit fraud to make sure it doesn't happen again.
And his approval ratings keep climbing despite them!
