Jefferson and Burr were 50/50 for a couple of rounds of voting in the EC until someone was convinced to change their vote from Burr to Jefferson, giving Jefferson the win. Thus, Jefferson still only won by 2 votes (over Burr, who became his first VP). The Constitution was amended to the "ticket" format after that election.
