Unfortunately, even though most people granted 44 the respect of calling him President, there are so many examples of the last four years where it has been Mr Trump, or Donald, or President*, or some other literary stab to show the lack of respect to the individual and the office he holds.

The same as when people would only refer to his prior history as a reality television host and not his decades of business and real estate experience (or selectively pick out only his bankruptcies for referencing).
