You're also not required to be a union member to be employed. I worked at DuPont for over 40 years, and saw more than one chemist, engineer, manager, fired and never knew why. The maintenance folks, machine operators, secretaries, technical assistants, and so forth were union eligible, and therefore had representation.
Giving up all sports seemed like bad news.. Good news is we don't need them to be happy. That time spent drooling over a game can be better spent with family, learning a skill or bettering yourself!
It is such a small thing that you can actually boycott with no negative effect on your day to day. Unless you are in concessions or Zambezi driving then sorry but your luck.

it's actually quite healthy/liberating not to watch them. Sure sports can be entertaining at times, but much of it is utterly boring not to mention depressing/stressful (and potentially expensive).
I'd rather be meeting interesting people, exercising, travelling or spending time outdoors. Maybe even play the sport in question if that's your thing.
