My husband and I are seriously considering moving to Texas. Because of the way they joined the US, they are the state most likely to succeed at secession. Also, Texas has an impressive economy and could function as a country (again). Where would you suggest moving to? I ride horses and I'd like to find a conservative area with a lot of stables.

Anywhere in the Hillcountry area, look for Red counties, stay away from the big cities, but if you have to land in a big city San Antonio is a soft landing. Small town between Johnson City to Brownwood upto Grand bury are nice, as are towns East of the 35 corridors to the LA border.
But, isn't Texas more Democratic than some other states? I think that Biden got 47% or something votes when in some other states, he got less than 30%.
