I think you're half right. The problem has always been that proving fraud was going to be hard for various reasons. That's why the Trump team's strategy was to show that they made unconstitutional changes to their election laws.
Take the ballots under the table video. In any sane setting all the things that were done on that video would be illegal. Imagine if a video of something like that happening at a bank came out. Would anybody doubt there's something sketchy going on? But here, all that needed to be said was "Naw, that's just how we operate elections. You just don't know the process!" The problem here is that the "legitimate" process is indistinguishable from fraud. I believe that's on purpose.
Then look at things like dead voters and all of the problems with voter rolls. Those are just swept under the rug because "Well we expect some of that in every election and there's just nothing we can do about it." Except there are things that can be done about it. Legislatures just refuse to because it would make it harder for them to cheat their way in.
The takeaway is that our elections are literally designed to allow cheating and have it appear as "just part of the process".
That's why it was so easy to ignore all the evidence. There are so many avenues available to cheat that it can't really be pinned on one thing. For every individual claim, all they had to do was say "that's how we do it", "that happens every election", or "it's not enough to overturn the election" and that was a good enough answer.
The biggest aspect was always not allowing republican observers the ability to meaningfully observe the signature verification process. This method ensures that, even if you get caught, there's no way to tell who actually won.
Finally, as this post is pointing out, no amount of evidence would have been sufficient because of media brainwashing.

Every time Biden had run for president before, he dropped out because of scandals far less serious than being in the party of "believe women" and having a woman accuse him of forcibly fingering her (I forget her name). Much less the contents of the laptop from hell, which came with photographic evidence and somebody coming forward to corroborate the corrupt business deals.
The entirety of the democrat leadership could be on video talking about how they planned the whole thing and the media would just make it go away.
