Trump is Commander in Chief. All of the military work for him and him alone until 20 Jan. 2021.

He is the Commander in Chief. All military commanders, of All branches, answer to HIM. He is the military’s GOD, until he leaves office. The Joint Chiefs get him covfefe.

In theory, but look what happened in Syria, this is not how it plays out in practice.

Trump: “Military, do this.”

Military: “No.”

But the army is already in DC. He can bypass the Pentagon and order lower ranks on the ground directly.

WTF are the swamp going to do? Cast a magic spell and teleport the 20k soldiers out of DC?

That is totally true. Also, Congress declared the War on Terror in 2001 and it is still in effect. The CIC is Commander of All Forces during Wartime. Also makes flagrant voter fraud while collluding with China, Italy, and Iran an act of Treason.

???

All services report to PotUS via the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. If you know of a special exception to the chain of command for the USMC, please provide sauce.

What's this have to do with the question at hand? Do you know of some parallel chain of command the USMC follow different than the other services??

BonerJam99 3 points ago +3 / -0

Not exactly. The third mission of the USMC is essentially “other tasks as ordered by the president” which I believe is what you are referencing.

Chain of command goes through SECNAV and SECDEF on the way to POTUS which is similar to other branches.

I think this doc is for aspiring FMF Corpsmen but it covers the CoC and missions.

They have to respond to FEMA if there's an emergency.

Partially correct. Said differently, the Marine Corps is the only DoD component that POTUS can deploy into operations on foreign soil without congressional approval/oversight that is required before deploying resources from all other branches.

That said, I think DoD and other joint-force efforts have created many loop holes here in the last few decades.

Except when Nancy and Pence want the National Guard there, then they can ignore the chain of command.

18
eplettner 18 points ago +18 / -0

Trump deployed the National Guard to the capital.

peltast 2 points ago +2 / -0

That's what we thought about the DOJ.

Have you seen the Joint Chiefs of Staff? They are politicians in uniform. I doubt any of them will help Trump.

2
Pikes985 2 points ago +2 / -0

True, no doubt. Its the Division and Corps. Commanders that wield the power Trump needs and they would be the ones following the constitution.

u do know that da joint chiefs literally have zero power in da military right? they’re retired generals hired on as da presidents top military advisors for each branch cause, well who tf else would u have as ur advisor for something other than people who had 1st hand XP in doing shit that they advising u on?

but they literally aint in da military anymore for as long as they’re joint chiefs. it’s a political position. they aint actual generals anymore n they cant give out any orders to anybody, not even on behalf of da prez. that’s da sec of defs job. da joint chiefs just come up with military plans that da prez can choose from for any given operation.
