That’s not how it works. And the rules aren’t any different. Officers don’t make an oath to the office of the president. We make an oath to the Constitution. In theory if the officer thought the president was going against the constitution they could go against the office of the president. This is intentional, the founding fathers wanted the military to support the constitution not just the current leader of the government. Or else we end up in one of those situations like Rome where the military just followed their generals and the emperor.
In theory, but look what happened in Syria, this is not how it plays out in practice.
