All, Just watched a troll post a video of a white women's grisly murder by black Islamic terrorist's in Africa. They were attempting to incite a race war. This is the culmination of 6 months of decline in content quality on TD. The "new account" feature is bringing in people hell bent on getting us shut down entirely. We need to close down enrollment and reopen as an invite-only community a month from now. I know we want to grow, but we need to grow safely. They will stop at nothing to get us shut down. New user content is the biggest vulnerability. They might start posting CP if they were willing to post this. Wake up.

Twitter. Deleted my account after the 6th to remove anything the left could use out of context to attack this site. So some of us handshake guys have been around for a while. I joined in late April early may and have seen a decline in content that is useful and alot of the Twitter look at me crowd showing up after the election. There used to be alot less repeat post.

I was originally on reddit: the_donald before they shut it down (for all practical purposes), I came here but it seemed like there was a lot of fighting so I moved to Twitter. I refused to stay after the purge. I, myself received a 12 hours suspension. Next was Parler, we all know how that went. I'm currently on Gab, but it's very slow. So, after feeling completely shut off, I came back. I may appear to be a new user, but I'm a loyal Trump supporter.
Ive joined Gab as well, brand new account with a brand new Proton mail email address, but I it's terribly slow (I don't blame them, they're getting a million people signing up every day so it'd to be expected).

Maybe we need probationary periods. For the first month after account creation all posts automatically go into moderation and are hidden until approved. That might just overload the mods though. Maybe a custom AI that checks for anti-trump content?

just give the Elders of TD a super-deport button. Give a select set of accounts, within a karma / age threshold, the ability to do a super-deport. If a post gets 2 or 3 of those, boom, the user is either suspended or shadow banned.
All super-deports go to a page where the Elders see who's deporting who. All deports are reviewable by all Elders / mods and the super deport is rescinded with any abuse.

I've got to agree, personally. As a former admin and mod of a now defunct forum, for about 10 yrs as mod, I've seen the benefit of closing doors for a while.
Also for a time we had an essay requirement, with a team of mods who voted and discussed each applicant. It was a lot of work, and not sure how many applicants you'd have, but also fun.

We might want to give older accounts deport buttons that actually work, small doomer booper 3000s. Then mods could regulate the people banning and at the same time recieve more help from a larger user base. I don't know how anyone has time to be a mod, but if we could just bop the obvious fakes quicker, that'd be better for the sites integrity. And the only way to do that is more eyes or an algorithm, and thats time and money. But we have lots of volunteers. Mini mods.

New accounts shouldn't be able to create new topics until they have at least 50 post replies (with >=2 score points) and have been a member for 2 weeks.
All posters should have an "average posts per day" statistic next to their names so we know who's active vs. just some rando who pops up without a handshake on an account created months ago.
People who do not average at least 2 posts per day should not be able to create new topics.
As a relatively inactive 'handshake' account (I mostly lurk), I can see some merit in this, though I would advocate for simply monitoring whether they have net positive votes on replies and posts. The people who create accounts to simply troll can be easily filtered out using this metric alone.
Perhaps the solution would be to put a good/bad/neutral karma symbol besides the handshake symbol to distinguish the nice from naughty? (Could be a good idea for all accounts, actually). If we view every handshake account with extreme suspicion, we won't grow as a site. We need to distinguish honest new-pedes from the trolls.

I didn’t know about this site until November 2020. I voted for Trump in the primary. I live in a Blue County and Precinct, odd man out. I don’t have a burning need to post comment, but have enjoyed sharing posts. So, I know because I am a noob I don’t have a say, but allowing login with no ability to post for a week or two would have been fine for me.
