All, Just watched a troll post a video of a white women's grisly murder by black Islamic terrorist's in Africa. They were attempting to incite a race war. This is the culmination of 6 months of decline in content quality on TD. The "new account" feature is bringing in people hell bent on getting us shut down entirely. We need to close down enrollment and reopen as an invite-only community a month from now. I know we want to grow, but we need to grow safely. They will stop at nothing to get us shut down. New user content is the biggest vulnerability. They might start posting CP if they were willing to post this. Wake up.

We already undermine free speech with rule 1) Trump supporters -- that's a pretty damn restrictive free speech rule. This is a club -- not a public forum. I think it should be an invitation only club until we develop effective controls and build out the mod team. It's do or die.
If I don't know who's sending out invites, I don't want them to control who gets invited. The mods here are amazing, don't get me wrong, but I don't know who they are. It's one thing to run a limit on what the theme of a website is, it's another to limit who can come into the site itself. One increases focus, the other forcibly stagnates a community. Also why would you try to undermine the growth of a already persecuted community (Conservatives) by limiting availability of possibly the only place on the internet where they can freely speak? I know you mean well, but dude, no growth is the same as a deficit when it comes to culture.
That's not how invite-only works. Members can invite members, and we'll have record of who invited who. So if one of the invites is a shill -- then we know a chain of shills.
I wouldn't be against that, if I'm being honest. Just so long as you don't throw the whole chain out, and investigate every link of it. I think that the Member-Invite Only as well as a karma system to match would be golden. Meaning the newbies had to attain an amount of karma to post as well as be members for say, a month. Another thing with this new chain could be a new karma system, some kinda tracking system for how good a person who invites is. Meaning if they invite shills, they are low scoring to possibly kicked. Or if they invite based meme machines, they are high scoring. This could be a good system to find new mods for example.
