Not sure the digital camera would have worked. Do they have bluetooth capability? I think they could easily scanned for bluetooth devices which probably have unique mac addresses. (not a professional camera person or computer person)

Anything with a RFID chip like your bank card or government ID would’ve been able to be scanned while in the capital I’m pretty sure.
