Sorry for the delay on responses. I'm also in no way an expert or medically trained but just looking at webmd(probably not a good source even) shows that there are tons of reasons and sicknesses as simple as a cold that have those same symptoms including loss of taste and smell. 80% of your taste is smell and having a plugged up nose can do the trick. Whatever you do if people are running a fever you need to see a doctor. Last thing I want is a dead family member for some speculation you hear from me or another pede. It even says a lack of vitamins (same ones you take to get over covid) can cause loss of taste or smell Wich struck me as super convenient.

Thanks. We’re all pretty well past it, aside from residual fatigue. The only ones that really had it bad (with fever) were the same that lost taste and smell. Agreed that clogged sinuses would impede smell (and most taste), but we have all had colds and flu throughout our lives, but hearing first-hand how unique/strange the loss of taste was seems pretty compelling to me. It is interesting how zinc deficiency seems to be associated.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I’ll chew on it for a bit.
