I can't imagine NOT breaking the TV habit. I know of people who just watch shows constantly, and the quality of them that I've seen lately is just pathetic. Is there nothing more valuable one can do with their time?
Right with you on that. It wasn't a conscious decision with me, just something that has evolved over the past few years. Sitcoms, movies, fake dramas, and even faker 'reality' TV were the first to go, leaving me switching between FOX/CNN/CSPAN until I shut them off a couple years ago. What's that you say? There's some wonderful content on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, etc? Dreck, all of it. Pass.
Ozark is the newest thing I've seen and enjoyed. Other than that, it all quite literally feels like propaganda. Even the 4th season of Fargo they ruined. If I'm going to watch something, I just go back to the same 4-5 shows from a few years ago that I love.

There's always reruns of Gilligan's Island and The Beverly Hillbillies.
The "reality TV shows" are all scripted. Trust me, I know.
Even the food network blows for the most part.
