As all who have seen me around know, I'm not american. I'm 101% for Trump and do not by any means support what is happening, just to clear up any potential doubts.

However there are a few things that I want to know to expand my own knowledge.

  1. What is the status? Has there been a vote? What was its result and what does it mean?
  2. What has to happen for a president to be impeached? Who needs to vote for what? Is a normal majority enough or is some sort of supermajority needed?
  3. How long does such a process take?
  4. If a president is impeached, does the vice president immediately become president? Asking because I don't speak american politics that well and if someone could ELI5 I'd be thankful. :)

It's just posturing.

It won't make it to the senate because it would require unanimous consent to start a special session.
