The word "disenfranchised' is going to be thrown around a lot in the future, it will be used synonymously with "unreasonably upset over nothing".
The meaning of "enfranchisement" is that you own your share of the franchise and your vote in matters pertaining to the running of the franchise counts equal to your share of ownership. Stealing someone's share of the franchise is akin to grand scale theft.
