“It appears that even if the House of Representatives impeaches President Trump this week, the Senate trial on that impeachment will not begin until after Trump has left office and President-Elect Biden has become president on Jan. 20,” Luttig wrote in The Washington Post. “That Senate trial would be unconstitutional.”

Fun Fact of the Day: All Congressional business ends on the last day of the session. In other words, every pending piece of legislation, or action has to be completely re-done on day 1 of the new session. Therefore, it is correct that it would be unconstitutional to continue an existing impeachment case from the previous session.

Let’s hope that’s not just a “rule” that they can change in a whim. Cuz, they’ll do it, ya know.

Since when did doing something unconstitutional ever stop anybody? FBI falsified documents to spy on Trump. Nothing happened to them except a few congressional hearings that weren't even under oath.

it's political wishy-washiness he's not doing this because it's the correct thing to do, he's doing it because he doesn't think it will make a difference and he wants to make a useless signal.
